What I should have said about her daughter’s boyfriend

And don't you come back

I wish I would have said something…

We were at a store a few weeks ago being helped by a very nice woman.  She kept telling me, “you look so much like my daughter’s boyfriend!  Your sense of humor is even the same!  It is so funny!”.  This woman was obviously very taken by her daughter’s boyfriend.

I asked her a few questions and she told me her daughter is 15.  The boyfriend is 19.  But she said “oh he is the nicest boy and he treats my daughter very nice”.  As she shared more Kaelin and I both started to feel uncomfortable with what she was describing.  But I didn’t say anything!  Lord, please forgive me.

Here is what I should have said:

“Ma’am, I do not know this guy.  But I do know a few things.  First, he is a sinner.  Second, he is a teenage boy.  Putting these two together, I can tell you that the only thing he wants from your daughter is sex.  Of course he is a nice guy.  Guys will go to great lengths to get sex.  Smart guys will especially try hard to win the parents and be nice to the girl, because this provides a safer umbrella to get what they want.  He is not going to marry her; he does not REALLY love her.  I know teenage boys!  That was me before I met Jesus.  And since you  said he is so much like me, I think I am speaking truly about this matter.  You can do what you want, but if I was her father, the most loving thing I could do would be to tell that dude:

HIT THE ROAD JACK.
