First Midwife Appointment

by kaelin ~ March 20th, 2008 at 1:09 am

I got through probably my most terrible fear today…. I gave about five viles of blood at the doctor’s!  Paul was with me.  What a blessing!  It was so great to have my husband there.  We decided not to get any ultrasounds, but we did let the midwife check the baby’s heartbeat.  It sounded really strong!  I told her it was enough after only about 10 seconds, though.  The baby did NOT like it, I’m pretty sure.  It punched up really hard, harder than it has ever moved before.  I’m told the soundwaves they use for dopplers (heartbeat monitors) and ultrasounds are equivalent to the sound of a train riding through the baby’s head.  I don’t think I’ll get that again, but it was cool.

Everything was normal, and I was told I’m normal size, too.  Despite the fact that people have been guessing I’m farther along than I really am.  I’m about 4 months now, but a couple ladies we served with this week asked me if I was 6 or 7 months pregnant!  We’re really looking forward to meeting our new one in August!
